Ryan and I are watching the Olympics and seeing them in a whole new light. Tonight I am especially and keenly aware of the spectators cheering on the athletes, and particularly the Brits cheering for their country’s athletes. We’re currently watching the men’s 5000 meter final (a long distance), and the home crowd is cheering loudly for their countryman, Mo Farah. As he approaches the finish line the roar gets louder and louder and LOUDER! He’s won!
I can only imagine the heavenly hosts cheering on Ryan as he is running his long race. How loudly they cheer for him, for he is one of their athletes….and he will win….
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
